OUR STORY-
As with many small businesses, Wick and Stone Candles began in my home. In my kitchen to be exact. I have always loved burning candles - but after trying many different brands, they all left me a headache after burning them a short time. I did some research and discovered how toxic most retail candles are and wanted to find a "healthier" option. But all of the "natural" candles I tried didn't seem to offer much fragrance when burned.
In the fall of 2019, I began experimenting with wax and fragrances. After much research, I made the decision to use soy wax, with no dyes and cruelty free, vegan fragrance oils. I later added coconut wax to our selections.
After spending months experimenting, testing, and refining my recipe, I finally felt I a product that I felt customers would love.
In 2020, I started selling online in the Etsy Marketplace and later moved to Mercari and Ebay. That winter, during the height of Covid, our Corona Killa candle was a big hit. The scent was Lavender Vanilla with lavender quartz stones and dried lavender buds. People found the scent calming and relaxing and the name a touch humorous. I made them in small batches and each batch sold out quickly since people were staying at home and shopping online. My daughter joined the adventure by helping me with pictures, candle ideas and assisting me with setup and sales at a few local markets.
In Spring of 2021, we started selling our line in a local retail shop as well. We created our own webiste and in 2022 we began selling our Mason Jar candles in a local country Farmstand grocery store. We gradually added more variety to appeal to a wide range of customers and various decor styles. This journey has been incredibly fun along the way and I hope to one day open a retail store featuring our candles.
